Our dad back home. Yeah!
A class on machine quilting for me with a needed break from home for the evening. Machine quilting is a skill I've always wanted to have but felt I could never learn. Now I'm feeling it's not as allusive as I had imagined. Just needs a lot of practice.
Why the need for a break? The kids were on each other's cases a few times too many this week. Argh. Yet then there would be times like this and I would decide to postpone listing them on Craig's List. (For the time being.)
Our week also brought a Halloween party with the kids and their friends. Everyone seemed to have a great time. The witches brew was the biggest hit. Well, except with little Zoie. She emphatically informed us she was not allowed to drink beer. We assured her it was root beer. She wasn't allowed to drink any kind of beer, she said. After a phone call to her grandma she decided we could be trusted.
And with a break in the weather we were able to visit some nearby waterfalls and enjoy the fall leaves before they are gone.
These falls are amazing. We're adding them to our list of favorite nearby places. Do they entice you to come and visit?
If you were to come you could help us solve a mystery. We stumbled across a strange hatch in the middle of the woods. We have a few theories...click here.
Sadly, our week ended with Randal leaving again. Hopefully we packed in enough fun to get us through until he comes home; otherwise I may find that hatch again and drop myself in.

Oooh - I've always wanted to learn how to machine quilt. My mom took a class but said that it was pretty tough. I'm impressed!
Yay on the machine quilting! I would love to come visit and see that waterfall, it is beautiful. The wind came through and blew off all my colorful leaves. The only upside to that is less raking.
Beautiful pictures, I would love to come visit and see all the scenery one day. I really don't think you would want my circus to come to town!! So for no I will live through your blog keep it up!
I'm so glad your halloween party went well!! Witches brew is my favorite too...and anything cooked with beer, but then cooked off. I remember when I first learned about beer cooked things and thought I couldn't have it either like your little friend. Thank goodness I learned (or maybe it doesn't really cook off and I'm getting a nice buzz). Hmmm...
I want to take a quilting class too. I don't have a great machine like yours though! I love the pictures of you guys at the falls!
Love that you guys are trying to serve beer to minors.
I'm glad you had fun with Randal. I have a friend who has a quilting machines. She say she has about 25-30 quilts sitting in her home at a time that people pay her to quilt for them. She has turned it into a real home business. She says she probably does a quilt a day. Keep it up! Oh, and cute kids!
That top picture is so cute.
The picture of the kids walking up those stairs holding hands is so cute!
Grandma says,
What did the hatch in the picture turn out to be? Beautiful scenery!
Cute kids!!! Love you all.
